1. The Ultimate Social Mixer (Rotating or Fixed Teams)
The magic of an Americano is the rotation. In a classic setup, every match is played to a set number of points (e.g., 24 or 32 points total). If the match ends 14-10, both players on the winning side get 14 points added to their individual total, and the losers get 10.
SliceWin calculates this instantly and automatically generates the matchups for every round. You can choose to run a true Americano (where players change partners every single match), or if you are running an event where people signed up in pairs, you can choose the Fixed Team option where partners stay together but rotate opponents.
2. Surviving the Chaos: Late Arrivals & Uneven Numbers
In a perfect world, you would always have exactly 16 players for 4 courts. In reality? You usually have 14 players and 3 courts. This means two people have to sit out every round.
Furthermore, real life happens. Someone shows up 20 minutes late. Another player tweaks their ankle and needs to leave early. A third player just needs a quick break to grab water. If you are using a rigid Excel sheet, these scenarios will completely break your tournament formula.
Configurable & Flexible
In SliceWin, the number of courts and players are completely configurable on the fly. If someone arrives late, you can simply add them to the active roster. If someone needs a break, the Admin can manually hit "Sit Out" for that specific player, and the algorithm will instantly recalculate the courts using the remaining available players.
3. The "Sit-Out" Algorithm: You Control the Vibe
When you have fewer courts than players, someone has to rest. But how do you handle a player who arrives 45 minutes late?
Do you want them to play every single remaining match to "catch up" to the rest of the group's match count? Or do you want them to sit out just as often as everyone else going forward, even though they missed the beginning? SliceWin gives you two distinct algorithm modes to manage this:
Catch-Up Mode
The algorithm aggressively prioritizes getting late joiners onto the court. It will ensure they sit out less frequently until their total match count matches the rest of the group. Perfect for highly competitive groups where total points matter.
Fair Rotation Mode
The algorithm ignores past match counts. It simply ensures that from the moment a player joins, they sit out exactly as often as everyone else. Perfect for relaxed, social mixers where court time is shared equally right now.
4. Automated Leaderboards & Global Rankings
As the rounds progress, players (or admins) simply enter the final score of their court. SliceWin handles the math, instantly updating the live Americano leaderboard.
Because it is an individual format, players are ranked strictly by the total points they have accumulated across all their varying partnerships.
The Best Part: It Feeds Your Club Ranking
Just because it is a fun social mixer doesn't mean the points don't matter long-term! Just like every other tournament format in SliceWin, the individual match results from your Americano automatically feed into your club's overarching Global Elo Ranking. This ensures the competition continues long after the Americano ends!
